MHHC is working with partners on the Riparian Health Information Development Project which is developing a technique to rapidly assess the health of riparian areas in agro-Manitoba using aerial photography and computer software. An initial trial was run on the Snake Creek in the Upper Assiniboine Conservation District. The results gathered from this trial are proving to be very successful and all the participating land owners have received a detailed report of their lands and suggested management practises. In 2010, a team of field workers will be doing similar surveys on Joubert Creek in near St. Pierre-Jolys, MB. It is hoped that through these test locations, a method can be developed to assess the health of riparian areas across Manitoba.
