In
the 1980s, public and private agencies in Canada and the United
States began to design the most comprehensive habitat conservation
plan in the World. Two years later, the North American Waterfowl
Management Plan (NAWMP) was signed. The plan is revolutionary in
its vision. It transcends borders and promotes massive cooperative
funding of land conservation programs to protect habitat for waterfowl
and other wildlife habitat.
The
NAWMP vision is a partnership of farmers, ranchers
and other landowners working with agriculture land conservation
organization to ensure agricultural sustainability
while enhancing landscape for wildlife.
