MHHC and the 18 Conservation Districts (CDs) of Manitoba have many program and mandate similarities. Essentially, both organizations are working with local residents to improve the state of the area’s ecosystems and watersheds. To enhance each others efforts, MHHC and CDs have partnered on several projects based on needs identified by each CD.
The longest running partnership is with the Turtle Mountain Conservation District where TMCD provides funds and in-kind resources to MHHC and in return, the Corporation delivers conservation agreements within target areas defined by TMCD. MHHC has another standing agreement with the Whitemud Watershed Conservation District for delivery of riparan conservation agreements.
MHHC provides support for implementation of watershed management plans for several other conservation districts on a project-by-project basis. MHHC has worked with Swan Lake Watershed, East Interlake, Cooks Creek, La Salle Redboine, Pembina Valley, Seine Rat River, Upper Assiniboine and Assiniboine Hills conservation districts.
