Habitat Management

Did you know

An additional part of our Habitat Stewardship Program and our SARPAL program is the ongoing management of protected and important lands to ensure that habitat remains in a suitable condition for the targeted species. To achieve this MHC uses grazing and shrub mowing to control invasive species.

These efforts play an especially important role when trying to preserve native grassland stands because they control the incursion of Trembling Aspen and shrubs, that would otherwise have been naturally limited by lightning fires and wildlife grazing.
